Conversation with Nadia Aarab, founder of Clean Shores on sustainability on a daily basis
followed by beach cleaning
Nadia Aarab is oceanograph and has a PhD in Oceanography “Ecotoxicology of Marine Ecosystems” from Bordeaux University. She is passionate by nature protection and founded Clean Shores, a non-profit organisation which organises beach cleaning actions and educational programs in Norway. Nadia is also a board chairman and board member of several non-governmental organizations (NGOs) focusing on marine conservation and sustainable development and promoting strategic alliances.
“After years of research in oceanography and studying the impact of the oil and gas industry, I made the decision to translate my academic knowledge into tangible action in the real world. In 2016, I founded Clean Shores Global with a clear vision: to raise awareness about the harmful effects of plastic pollution and mobilize local communities to take concrete steps towards a cleaner, healthier coastline in Norway and around the world.”
Nadia is also member of Den Gjenfundne Tid where she develops and implements the sustainable vision of the association.
