André Lislevand

André Lislevand was born in Verona in 1993. A son of lutenist parents, music played an important part in his life from very early on. Since the age of 16, he has been collaborating with various ensembles and orchestras including Ensemble Kapsberger, Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich, the Münchner Phillharmoniker, directed by and playing with artists such as Sigiswald Kuijken, Andrea Marcon, and Paul McCreesh. As a youngster he had the chance to study privately with Jordi Savall. He began his studies under Paolo Pandolfo at the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis in 2013, continuing with Vittorio Ghielmi at the Mozarteum in Salzburg in 2017. Paolo Pandolfo described André as “a young maestro of the viola da gamba, whose musical sensitivity is rich with ideas of great artistic quality.” André is currently a professor of viola da gamba at the “Pierre Cochereau” Conservatory in Nice and the “L. Marenzio” Conservatory in Brescia (Italy). André Lislevand is the guest of prestigious festivals such as, Utrecht Oude Muziek Festival, Menuhin Festival Gstaad,Salzburg Festspiele, Tonhalle Zurich, Göttingen Händel-Festspiele, Festival Ambronay, Muziekgebouw Amsterdam, Trondheim Barokkfest, Automne Musical de Spa, Festival Printemps des Arts di Montecarlo, to name a few. Since 2013 he has been a regular guest of Oslo Chamber Music Festival, invited by Arve Tellefsen. He plays regularly with the Norwegian luthist Jadran Duncumb and the clavecinist Paola Erdas. His debut album Forqueray Unchained (2021) was awarded a Diapason Découverte. His second album Galanterie, the autumn of the viola da gamba (2023) was praised by critics.

André Lislevand ble født i Verona i 1993. Som sønn av to luttspillere har musikk spilt en viktig rolle i livet hans fra tidlig alder. Allerede som 16-åring begynte han å samarbeide med ulike ensembler og orkestre, blant annet Ensemble Kapsberger, Tonhalle-Orchester Zürich og Münchner Philharmoniker, under ledelse av og i samarbeid med artister som Sigiswald Kuijken, Andrea Marcon og Paul McCreesh.
Som ung fikk han muligheten til å studere privat med Jordi Savall. I 2013 begynte han sine formelle studier under Paolo Pandolfo ved Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, og fortsatte i 2017 med Vittorio Ghielmi ved Mozarteum i Salzburg.
Paolo Pandolfo har beskrevet André som «en ung mester på viola da gamba, med en musikalsk følsomhet rik på ideer av høy kunstnerisk kvalitet». André er i dag professor i viola da gamba ved Conservatoire «Pierre Cochereau» i Nice og Conservatorio «L. Marenzio» i Brescia (Italia). Han er jevnlig invitert til prestisjetunge festivaler som Utrecht Oude Muziek Festival, Menuhin Festival Gstaad, Salzburg Festspiele, Tonhalle Zürich, Göttingen Händel-Festspiele, Festival Ambronay, Muziekgebouw Amsterdam, Trondheim Barokkfest, Automne Musical de Spa, Festival Printemps des Arts i Monte Carlo – for å nevne noen.
Siden 2013 har han vært en fast gjest ved Oslo Kammermusikkfestival, invitert av Arve Tellefsen.
Han samarbeider også regelmessig med den norske luttspilleren Jadran Duncumb og cembalisten Paola Erdas. Hans debutalbum Forqueray Unchained (2021) ble tildelt Diapason Découverte, og hans andre album Galanterie – høsten for viola da gamba (2023) ble rost av kritikerne.

Depuis 2013, il est un invité régulier du Festival de musique de chambre d’Oslo, invité par Arve Tellefsen. Il joue régulièrement avec le luthiste norvégien Jadran Duncumb et le claveciniste Paola Erdas. Son album de débuts Forqueray Unchained (2021) a été récompensé par un Diapason Découverte. Son deuxième album Galanterie, l’automne de la viole de gambe (2023) a été salué par la critique.
